This spring we would like to expand our tennis program. If you are interested please contact me soon. Alex Darraugh is our coach. I think you would really enjoy this opportunity. We will be sending a separate registration, but I need to plan for equipment and location.

2020 Winter Bowling Sign Up

It's time to sign up for our Winter Bowling Season! We'll be bowling on Sundays from 1-3 PM for six practices:

  • February 2
  • February 9
  • February 16
  • February 23
  • March 1
  • March 8

If there is a tournament it will most likely be March 14-15, though we haven't seen anything on the State calendar yet.

Please sign up using the Google Form usual. We only have room for 56 bowlers (four per lane, fourteen lanes) so we'll have to take only the first 56 bowlers. The signup will close January 17th. If you have any questions, send me an email!

Picnic reminder

Only about a dozen families have said they are coming for a total of only 27 people. We WANT you to come, but if you are coming, please let us know. We don't want to have 100 hotdogs left over and we don't want to make an emergency pizza order, either! You can let us know with the Picnic Google Form

Off-season Powerlifting Training

We sent an email to the powerlifting email list to reach recent lifters, but if you have ever lifted before and are interested in getting back to the sport, there's special off season training sessions you can join! Coach Scott is at the Legion 19 Crossfit at 10:30 AM for one hour on these Saturdays:

  • September 14, 21, 28
  • October 5, 19

  • December 7, 14

Please sign up with the Powerlifting Training Google Form,

Aquatics (Swimming) Sign Up

We're ready to start the swim season, but with the changes at the area/region and at the state -- and the construction at Upper Arlington High School where we usually have the area meet -- our season is going to be split by the holidays. The dates on the calendar.

We will be practicing from 4 PM to 6 PM on Sundays at Ohio Wesylan's Meek Aquatics Center (Google Maps, parking is off Harrison Street.). The first part of the season will run from October 6th through the area/region meet on December 7th and 8th. After the holiday break, The second part will run from January through February 23rd and finish with the state meet. Please sign up with the Aquatics Sign up Form.

If you want to be eligible to go to the state meet in February, you have to go to the area/region meet in December. If you don't want to go to the state meet, you don't have to join us for the second part of the season -- but we'd love to have you and it's a good to practice for the next year!

If you need more information about the changes from the state, you'll find them in the first edition of our newsletter sent earlier this month in the SOOH section.

Basketball Sign Up

Since the state has moved the basketball tournaments earlier, we have start earlier. I'm asking that school-age players come to Willis on Wednesday, October 2nd at 6 PM and that adult players and Lady Racers come to Willis on Thursday, October 3rd at 6 PM. Come prepared to practice a bit so the coaches can meet new athletes and help form teams. Please sign up with the Basketball Google Sign Up Form.

The complete schedule, as far as I have it, is on the website calendar. We have Willis Education Center on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights from 6 PM to 9 PM for our teams to practice and play home games. We are working on getting time on OWU courts on the weekends.

If you need more information about the changes from the state, you'll find them in the first edition of our newsletter sent earlier this month in the SOOH section.

We need some help

We are hoping you can help us in a couple of areas:

  1. We are looking for a soccer coach. The season is ready to begin, we have a field and players but no one to coach. If you are willing to coach this season, or know someone who is, please let me know. We hope Sean will be back next year. He is taking this year off due to his pending wedding.
  2. Cheer season is ready to start and it is not going to be like the cheer seasons in the past! This is not just cheering at games, the team will also compete outside of Special Olympics. Our coach also coaches for OWU and you will also be cheering at the college games with their cheerleaders! You may sign up for cheer and other sports. The season will run fall through spring. If you have any interest at all or you have tried it and dropped it, please sign up with the Google Form. The details are on our news page.
  3. We have been blessed not to have to organize fundraisers in the past year. The time has come that we need to get organised and find funding commitments. I'm looking for people that are willing to help with ideas and businesses in Delaware county that might commit to a yearly or even one time donation. Families who have work connections would also be helpful. The donations that we have received in the past year have been wonderful. They have allowed us to purchase new equipment and uniforms. We appreciate all their help!!

Thank you ! -- Connie Warner, Local Coordinator,
